“The issue with Gmail that affected a majority of users has been fixed. It lasted for approximately one hour and forty-five minutes. During that period, users could continue to send and receive email using POP and IMAP, and access their old mail using Gmail offline.

We were positively CRIPPLED by this temporary outage. No, we jest — a minor inconvenience at best. Still. it speaks to the fact that companies and organizations needing reliable communications should always have a backup, be it AIM or another instant messaging program, or the increasingly old-fashioned “phone.”
